Australian Design Review’s 30UNDER30 - WINNER
February 2024
Following on from our announcement in December 2023, we are pleased and excited to announce that Hugo Chan, Director of StudioHC has been made one of thirty distinguished architects and innovators of the built environment for the Australian Design Review’s 30UNDER30 2023-2024 cohort. The program will see a collaborative and creative immersion for Hugo, who is deeply honoured and humbled by the appointment.

It is with a deep sense of pride and honour to announce that Hugo Chan, Director of StudioHC has been shortlisted as a member of the Australian Design Review’s 30UNDER30 Architects and Innovators of the Built World program. As a program designed to foster creativity, expand perspectives and foster new and lasting connections, he looks forward to sharing both his knowledge as well as learning from an incredible group of peers across the design, urbanism and architecture fields.
2023 New South Wales State Parliamentary Elections

Recognising the important role policy making has in shaping the future of our cities, StudioHC is pleased to announce that Hugo Chan is standing with the Elizabeth Farrelly Independents party for the upcoming NSW Parliamentary Elections as a Legislative Council (Upper House) candidate. We believe that architects have an important role in voicing our concerns around policies in government which will shape the future of our cities.
2021 David Lindner Prize Announcement

Hugo Chan has been awarded the 2021 David Lindner Prize. This prize aims to inspire graduates and emerging architects through research to engage in important and challenging design issues involving the public realm. Dedicated to encouraging new research on architecture in the public realm, the prize seeks submissions exploring a broad range of topics relevant to current architectural discourse in Australia and internationally.
2020 Alastair Swayn Foundation Research Grant Announcement

It is with great pleasure that we announce that Director Hugo Chan has been awarded the inaugural Alastair Swayn Foundation Research Grant, with the aim of exploring high-density urbanism and housing. We look forward to disseminating the research findings of this project with both the architectural community and the wider general public in the coming months!
RIBA Chartered Member Appointment

StudioHC is pleased to announced that our Director, Hugo Chan has been appointed a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects as part of their International Chapter. As a member of this prestigious organisation, we will be able to provide unparalleled services and access to resources both in our day-to-day practice and in our research projects.
NSW Architectural Registration
June 2019
Director Hugo Chan has successfully completed the Architectural Registration Examination & Interview to become a registered practitioner in NSW. His registration now demonstrates his ability to actively practice with the level of professionalism and experience clients can expect in accordance with the Architects Act.
NSWARB Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship 2017/18 Announcement

Hugo Chan has been awarded the 2017 NSWARB Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship to undertake a period of extended travel to Hong Kong, London and New York, investigating approaches to adaptive reuse in architecture. In an interview with the ARB, Hugo talks about his goals and proposed outcomes from the research project.
